Abstract :
The authors describe a system for managing System Program Office (SPO) schedules. The intent is to provide the program manager (PM) with more than a system which passively gathers schedule information. Rather, the intent is to provide a means of exerting maximum control over the attainment of program schedule objectives. The following topics are discussed: system primary and secondary objectives: example system operating procedures; characteristics of the program and the SPO to be considered in tailoring the schedule management system; schedule work breakdown structure design considerations; techniques of system operation; and criteria for the selection of project management software
