Abstract
After a brief description of interprocess communication in real-time systems, in this paper we present two of the best IPC mechanisms in real-time Linux-real-time FIFO´s and shared memory. The comparison between these two mechanisms is also presented, especially concerning the detection of new writes and data consistency. At the end we show the possibilities of their use in real-time applications.
