Abstract :
A 3-dimensional transient temperature field calculation model for the induction motor in mini electric vehicle is established in this paper. The iron loss distribution for motor in different operation conditions is calculated based on time-stepping finite element method coupled with the circuit equations and the calculation results are applied to the heat model for the motor. The heat coupling between stator and the rotor is analyzed. The law of the temperature distribution in starting, rated and other operating condition is obtained to offer theoretical guidance for the prediction of heat state in specified operating condition and the optimal design for the cooling system in the motor.
