Abstract
To reduce the risk of cost and schedule overruns during system development, an integrated hardware and software reuse environment is proposed in which the system development process is integrated with a hardware and software reuse methodology. A reuse technology is proposed that defines system artifacts in terms of domain model artifacts, organizes system artifacts according to their requirements and, the system development life cycle stage in which they were developed, and supports a user role-driven reuse catalog. The corresponding reuse environment requirements are analyzed, and an engineering information system is proposed as the underlying engineering environment to support the tight integration of this reuse methodology and the system development process
