Abstract :
In this paper, modeling and control strategy study of a modular multilevel converter based high voltage direct current transmission system are carried out. The modulation methods and control strategies are discussed. A ±10kV/15MVA back-to-back MMC based HVDC experimental system is built up. A sorting algorithm and capacity voltage balance control method are used in the experimental system. The control method are validated with experimental results.
