Abstract
FSPM exhibits relative higher torque ripple compared to conventional PMSM. Based on twisted-rotor structure, this paper presents a method to analyze the influences of twist angle on the flux-linkage magnitude, flux-linkage harmonics, and the torque capability combined with finite-element analysis (FEA), and then chooses the optimal twist angle in terms of the analysis. In case of 6/x FSPM machines, the electromagnetic properties of FSPM machines with and without optimization are compared.
