  • Abstract
Increasing demands for open broadband access anytime and anywhere is a challenge for telecoms and Internet service providers. In addition to technologies like UMTS and WiMAX-based networks, IEEE 802.11-based WLAN technologies can contribute significantly to Open Access Networks if commonly-used services can be supported. This paper describes a solution for fast handover as well as for re-authentication including mobility support. This allows interactive services to be used when switching between WLAN access points, even if connected to different IP sub-networks.
