Abstract :
Thus far, most researches on the cooperative transmission focused on the reliability point of view, showing that we can significantly improve the reliability of data transmissions by the cooperative transmission. On contrary, in this paper, we study the performance of the cooperative transmission from different perspectives such as system throughput and fairness. We consider a three-node system that consists of two source nodes, which can choose to either cooperate with each other or not to transmit their data, and one destination node. Based on this system, we study the conditions under which the cooperative transmission is beneficial to improve system throughput and satisfy the fairness requirement between source nodes.
