Abstract
The magnetic field and the levitation force produced by a rotor with alternating magnetic poles in a hydrostatic bearing, with magnetic fluid, are evaluated numerically. The magnetic liquid is considered as a nonlinear medium. The 3D-FEM program MagNet 5.0 is used for the magnetic field computation and the MatLab program is used for the numerical evaluation of the levitation force that acts on the rotor. The results are presented in a graphical form.
