Abstract :
This paper is a thought piece that utilizes relatively new developments in the science and philosophy of consciousness to provide vantage points from which to take a fresh look at the strengths and limitations of cybernetics. Martin Heidegger´s critique of cybernetics is presented and serves as a philosophical context for analysis and theoretical exploration. Out of this exercise this paper develops what is argued to be a non-cybernetic concept of conscious experience called phenomenal appreciation.
