Abstract :
We developed a very compact 16-channel WDM receiver that consists of an arrayed waveguide grating-photodiode (AWG-PD) module, transimpedance amplifiers, and limiting amplifiers. Simultaneous 16-channel operation was demonstrated at a bit rate of 1.25 Gbit/s/ch. The WDM receiver sensitivity with optical preamplification was between -38 and -32 dBm for 1.25 Gbit/s NRZ 223-1 pseudorandom bit stream at a bit error rate of 1×10-9. Therefore, the receiver could be used in WDM systems based on Gigabit Ethernet.
