Abstract
A system for Rayleigh fading simulation is presented together with the results of some experiments and field trials carried out for the purpose of comparison of burst error correcting codes. The most notable features of the system are to be found in the proposed approach to Rayleigh fading simulation, realized on a PC in an easy and flexible form, which can be conveniently interfaced to external hardware devices for measurement and test purposes. In modeling the Rayleigh channel, the classic Gilbert´s model was modified, maintaining on the one hand its simple structure but avoiding on the other hand some inherent drawbacks
