Abstract
We have demonstrated the generation of a time and wavelength-interleaved pulse train from a fiber ring laser incorporated with a semiconductor optical amplifier. The laser switches at 4 GHz among 4 wavelength components with less than 1.1 dB variation in the optical power. The successful implementation of this scheme indicates the potential to generate a user-defined multiwavelength pulse train from a fiber laser, which is of great importance in WDM communications and photonic ADCs.
