Abstract :
This paper has proposed a five-level converter topology for low-voltage (380 V) motor drive applications, which brings in benefits of more output voltage levels, reduced harmonics, less dv/dt and EMI issues. The operation of the converter has been explained. The redundancy in the switching states can be used to balance the dc-link neutral point voltage and control the clamping capacitor voltage. Simulation results have validated the proposed topology and control scheme.
