Abstract :
A High power electromagnetic generator (HPEMG) is developed, which is integrated with a microwave generator, a pulse signal generator, a signal analyzer and a control computer. The microwave generator consists of high voltage pulse power supply, vacuum equipment, gas supply equipment, cooling system, magnet and its power supply. The control system of the microwave generator for control and monitor is designed with a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for flexible sequence of the control program and its stability. A high precision variable pulse generator and a digital oscilloscope is adopted as a pulse signal generator and a signal analyzer, respectively. A personal computer with Windows XP is adopted as central control unit and the control program is developed with NI Lab-View. Main devices of the system controller are connected to local area network by 100 Mbps Ethernet. And sub-systems of it can talk to central unit with serial and GPIB communication. In this paper, the design characteristics and performance of system controller for high power electromagnetic generator is described.
