Abstract
This paper studies the high-performance current control strategies for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), and illustrate the concepts of the strategies respectively. The first control scheme is field oriented control (FOC) which is widely used in industry. The other control scheme is direct predictive torque control (that is called DPTC in this paper). The two schemes both control motor currents in rotary frame. Some special issues are taken into account to make the fair comparison. The results show that DPTC performs excellent dynamic responses with larger current harmonic than FOC.
