Abstract :
The incorporation of nanoscale particulates into host polymers to form nanocomposites has attracted substantial interest in the last 5 years since it is apparent that the insulating properties of polymers can be positively affected, and to some degree tailored, by this technology. This contribution seeks to provide an overview of the state of the art, and, through consideration of the underlying fundamental mechanisms, provide a perspective and the possibilities for duty as electrical insulation.
