Abstract
This paper describes the development and experiments with a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) for a combined heat and power (CHP) unit. The machine is designed to produce 3kW of electrical power at 250 kRPM. The final unit should be usable for households allowing the production of own electrical energy and heat by burning either natural gas or biogas. The currently achieved PMSM speed is 100 kRPM.
