  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We investigated dispersion-flattened fiber design for broadband supercontinuum (SC) generation. We found that low dispersion fiber can be sensitive to fiber inhomogeneities. A dispersion-flattened fiber design that compromises between a relatively high dispersion, assuring robustness against manufacturing inhomogeneities, and high nonlinear coefficient, for reducing the required power, is a suitable design for broadband SC generation. Such a fiber design could lead to a broadband spectrum generation able to cover the full C- and L-band under reasonable power requirement.
