Abstract
This paper discusses on guidelines and standards that have been presented on distributed generator (DG) interconnection protection. References to other literatures are presented in addition, as DG interconnection protection is an area to explore yet. The discussion is applicable to small distributed generators, 10 MVA or less, which are generally connected at the distribution level of the utility system. The electrical system considered in this paper is North American with the expectation the principles of DG interconnection protection shall be reviewed and considered accordingly for other types of electrical system and to conform to local utility practices.
