Abstract :
In this paper, OFDM (uncoded and coded) systems are combined with both vertical layered space-time (VLST) architecture and carrier interferometry (CI) spreading codes, resulting in the so called VLST-CI/OFDM system and VLST-CI/COFDM system. It is shown that the novel systems offer considerable high throughput provided by VLST architecture and simultaneously achieve dramatic performance gains by taking advantage of large frequency diversity inherent in the CI/OFDM technique. In this paper, we show that the proposed VLST-CI/OFDM (or VLST-CI/COFDM) system has a more stable envelope and, ultimately, an average PAPR far smaller than that of VLST-OFDM (or VLST-COFDM)
