Abstract :
State-of-the-art automated Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) are often used for monitoring and controlling purposes of modern industrial control systems but they are extremely expensive. Commercially available computers have high processing power hence can be used to develop DAQ systems. If a large number of parameters have to be monitored and also if they are changing fast, development task will be difficult. If a commercial operating system is being used then capturing algorithms and data transferring mechanisms have to be designed carefully to get acceptable results. This paper reports number of software and software modules developed to operate in hierarchical manner together with selected file formats and file transfer mechanisms in successful design, development and implementation of high performance data acquisition (DAQ) system.
