Abstract :
In this paper we compare two lateral shieldings for electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) antennas. PEC/PMC and PEC/PEC plates are used to shield the lateral walls of a classic dielectrique EBG antenna. Both structures are presented and a modal analysis is done. They are simulated and their radiation performances are compared. The PEC/PMC structure exhibits a better radiation efficiency than the PEC/PEC structure.
