Abstract
In this paper, a utility-based fuzzy wavelength assignment with fiber delay line (UFWA) is proposed to achieve both high wavelength utilization and low traffic delay in optical burst switching (OBS) networks. It contains a suitable wavelength concentrator (SWC) to filter more adequate wavelengths with higher unities, several fuzzy wavelength evaluators (FWE) to calculate the adequate degrees of the filtered wavelengths, and a wavelength selector (WS) to determine the most adequate wavelength. Simulation results show that the UFWA not only achieves throughput higher than the preemptive latest available unused channel with void filling (PLAUC-VF) [6] and the efficient preemption-based channel scheduling algorithm (EPCS) [10] by about 300 Mbps and 150 Mbps, respectively.
