Abstract :
We demonstrate tunable dispersion compensation for a 40-Gb/s signal over 120 km LEAF fiber using a single mechanically-stretched nonlinearly-chirped FBG. It is believed that the dispersion slope of nonlinearly-chirped FBGs is a serious problem at 40-Gb/s. However, we show that the third-order dispersion of the FBG induces a negligible penalty and the FBG still can have a wide tuning range.
