  • Abstract
An adaptive multi-user bi-directional SDMA/CDMA scheme for WLAN is proposed. Key features of this work include the evaluation of practical multi-user detector (MUD) architectures for varying channels, spectrally efficient signaling to economize data converter implementation and customized digital back-end hardware proposals for low-power, low-cost IC implementation. Results indicate that a practical low-power mobile receiver functioning over a 160% delay spread variation is realizable with more than a 70% savings in 0.18-mum CMOS IC power consumption
