Abstract :
We designed and fabricated modules for one-sided fiber-chip coupling on waveguide-fed photodiodes with optical spot size expanders. The modules have an optimized fiber-chip coupling set-up with high return loss of 28 dB; and low excess loss and a high modulation bandwidth. A reliability stress program was performed which shows no significant degradation (<0.2 dB) of the coupling efficiency.
