Abstract
Obtaining the characteristics of a channel plays an important role in communication. Power lines are very different from other channels available and characterized by time variant notches that make it a harsh media for data transfer. Predetermination of the transfer function is required in many mitigation schemes of communication. In this work, a novel method is described to estimate the transfer function of power line between two power outlets using the pre knowledge of the input impedance of the network. Using this methodology, the transmission, chain or ABCD matrices of unknown networks can be obtained which can be used to estimate the salient features of the transfer function of the same.
