Abstract
This paper presents a novel procedure for the synthesis of thin radar absorbers composed by a lossy Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) in the viinity of a PEC plane. The aim of this work is to obtain the same properties of the Salisbury and Jaumann screen for both TE and TM incidence polarizations, using a thinner structure. The new-style RAM relies on the operating principle of the Salisbury screen, but its ultra-thin design is based on the Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) properties of the FSS configuration.
