Abstract :
Summary form only given. Consideration is given to a general web consisting of disjoint sets of data repositories, computing facilities, and terminals of all kinds. An examination is made of the current status of this growth in communications. How this could be done is discussed form the point of a user of mass storage facilities. The author considers how things got started, and what forces are currently active.<>
