  • Abstract
    This paper describes the software design and implementation of the Data Acquisition System (DAQ) for multichannel gas detectors, GEM-TPC and RPC/MRPC. Based on VME64X specifications, pipelined front-end electronics system was designed and developed for the detectors respectively. The DAQ system was designed to be a distributed architecture, consisting of a VME system controller (PowerPC), a PC and a fast Ethernet switch. The software was developed based on Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, NI LabVIEW and Wind River Tornado2.0. Multiple run modes, including electronics test, calibration, current integration mode online data taking and waveform sampling mode online data taking, were provided with the software. Long term cosmic ray experiments and beam tests showed that the system and software were robust and stable; meet the design requirements for the systems.
