Abstract
Statements that “Electric motor systems consume as much as 60% of all industrial usage electrical energy” may create the perception that electric motors must be a major contributing factor to the electricity supply crisis that many parts of the world are facing. This paper analyses this misconception and dispels the myth that electric motors waste so much energy.
