Abstract
In this paper we study the impact of capture effect on the IEEE 802.11 networks. In order to have insight into capture effect in the MAC layer, a new Markov chain model has been built for describing the back-off mechanism in 802.11 networks. Based on the new iterative transmission probability algorithm, a new throughput model considering capture effect has been proposed
