Abstract
In this paper we introduce a novel technique for the synthesis of thin, planar, easily fabricated AMC surfaces that do not posses a complete PEC backing, unlike the conventional FSS AMCs. These planar AMC structures are realized via two cascaded FSSs, the parameters of which are optimized by a GA for the design goals of achieving a highly reflective composite structure with AMC behavior.
