Abstract :
In order to improve TCP performance over satellite network, optimization based data transmission should be designed to adapt the characteristic of satellite fading channel. This paper proposes an analytic model of TCP over satellite channel which associate TCP throughput with the significant parameters (transmission power, FEC, packet loss probability) under bandwidth constraints. Through the model a dynamic programming based approach is proposed and evaluated, which is able to maximize TCP throughput or fairness flexibly among base stations by solving a net utility function. A comprehensive simulation study using ns2 shows that the strategy achieves excellent goodput in the test scenarios and can provide fairness simultaneously through adjusting the algorithm parameter
