Abstract
Legacy cellular infrastructure can not fulfill the requirements introduced by space time code (STC), joint transmission (JT), MIMO and other wireless technologies. We propose a novel virtual cell structure based on distributed antenna, which decreases the handoff frequency and allows access via WLAN randomly. In this paper, we emphasis on construction and selection of the virtual cell, and describe the horizontal adaptive handoff procedure in the architecture. To support vertical handoff between cellular and WLAN, VHTN and VHSN were introduced into the architecture. Mathematics analysis shows that the system promotes the performance in delay and packet loss
