Abstract :
TCP performance degrades dramatically in one hop wireless network when the channel condition is getting worse, which is caused by fading channel and burst error. In this paper we introduce a new scheme to improve wireless TCP performance and reduce energy consumption based on pseudo-ACK combined with sub-RRT. The TCP can obtain exactly the wireless channel condition, which is represented the bit error rate, form pseudo-ACK which is derived form link layer and has the same format with that of ACK, and congestion represented by sub-RRT in wired part. According to these two parameters, the mobile node can determine if the packet should be transmit and if should, what is the reasonable size of the packet. Simulation shows that the new scheme can adapt the varying channel automatically and improve the performance significantly
