Abstract :
With the maturity of 4G communication technologies and the popularity of smart devices, services over mobile devices are getting more and more popular, especially the mobile video services. In this paper, we propose a mobile video broadcast framework to provide each user with the most appropriate video quality according to his channel characteristic. To meet the demands of scalability and robustness, our scheme performs real-value representation, transform and transmission of the video stream. Motion alignment is involved in the temporal transform to fully exploit the inter-frame redundancy. Besides, motion vectors are further compressed using run length coding to reduce the metadata´s transmission overhead on the basis of ensuring accuracy. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms SoftCast 3.2~4.6dB, and outperforms SVC+HM 2.6~8.4dB. It also verifies that the proposed scheme can avoid cliff effect and be resilient to channel noise and propagation loss.
