Abstract
This paper presents a novel scheme, for detection and magnitude determination of turn faults, based on parameter identification of a model in which the turn fault is considered. A particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm does parameter identification. Insensitivity of the technique to load variation, supply voltage variation, temperature variation and unbalanced supply voltage is shown by many experimental tests.
