Abstract
This paper first reviews the implementation of FD-FDTD applying the first order Debye model for UWB systems. Based on the well-known solution for a dipole in free space for continuous wave, the analytical solution for the dipole as a soft source in the frequency dependent media is proposed. The analytical solution is used in proposing the method for the accuracy assessment of soft sources utilising the whole waveforms. The accuracy assessment method is demonstrated using a modulated Gaussian pulse excitation and reveals the influence of the simulation parameters to the accuracy of the source implementation.
