Abstract
This paper proposes a novel adaptive deformation method based on a hierarchical progressive mesh structure. It hierarchically clusters faces to construct a binary tree of the original model and creates a progressive mesh for each node. Based on this structure, we create a multi-Level of Detail model of a group of sub-meshes with different resolutions in real-time. Deformation parameters including the region of interest and deformation constraints are projected onto the new model for the attribute-preserving deformation. Experimental results demonstrate that our method reconstructs a proper mesh in real-time to achieve high quality on visualization and support interactive deformation.
