Abstract :
Energy consumption is a major component for industries and distribution licensees. Its effective control is a means of increasing reliability, availability and profitability. In a transmission and distribution system, few of the reasons behind a high technical loss are improper load management, overloading on distribution side, ageing of equipments and inaccurate metering. Further, losses depend on load density, energy consumption pattern and configuration of system. Defective meters, error in meter reading and approximation of unmetered data in the end contribute to significant percentage of losses.
