  • Abstract
    The necessity of using fast beamforming algorithms for phased array systems has become more important especially for mobile platforms. A mobile platform like a vehicle needs to keep locked on the target during data transmission /reception interval to achieve a high signal to noise ratio or bit rate. However, during the platform maneuver, the antenna main beam deviates from the desired target. Commercial position sensors like gyroscope or GPS are not fast enough to measure the instantaneous physical movement of the platform. Furthermore, the servo loop has its own delay to compensate this movement. Fortunately inertia-less beamforming in phased array systems can potentially compensate the effects of small physical movements, but still the speed of the beamforming process and its adaptive-ness are two key issues. In this paper, we introduce a fast and completely adaptive beamforming algorithm which can be used for the mobile phased arrays.
