Abstract
The call outage analysis is an important for evaluating the capacity of CDMA systems. CDMA multiple access allows soft handoff, in which the signal strength of the mobile is detected and tracked by the searchers from more than one base station. In this paper outage probability (Pout) by varying margin of power for hard handoff and soft handoff has been analyzed. The power at the boundary at normalized cell radius r=1, has not been taken into account for hard handoff and for soft handoff, It is assumed that mobile is either in cell 0 or in cell 1, so numerically the case r0 = r1, where the mobile is exactly at the boundary. In this analysis, we have taken path loss exponent m=4 and standard deviation sigma =6, 8 &10 dB. The SWP software has been used for analysis. The model reported by W. C. Y. Lee. [15] has been used.
