ITS planning in the urban environment using the ITS city pioneers approach

With DETR support, Devon and Lancashire County Councils have had the opportunity to be the first in the UK to use the ITS deployment planning methodology developed by ITS City Pioneers to plan and deploy intelligent transport systems (ITS) and to see if the methodology can really be made to work in practice. Lancashire County Council is developing a telematics strategy for the Greater Preston Area, comprising the town of Preston and the adjoining suburban areas. A similar exercise has been carried out by Devon County Council for Exeter and its environs
