Abstract :
The seismic evaluation process of reinforced concrete building not designed to withstand seismic action is considered. After briefly introducing how seismic action is described for design purposes, methods for assessing the seismic demand and capacity of existing building is presented. The traditional method of seismic retrofitting is reviewed. The retrofitting schemes with designed detailed sketches are explained here with. The presentation is illustrated by case study of actual building for polytechnic located in Yavatmal district (Maharashtra, India) where traditional techniques of retrofitting method have been proposed.
