Abstract
Spread spectrum transmission and the implementation of this technology in a wireless packet data network called ARLAN are described. Some key features of the combination include wideband data transmission about 100 times faster than conventional radio, ultrasecure communication, high immunity to interference, error-free transmission, fast user response time, and transparence to user software. The status of Canadian regulations is also presented. Typical uses are described and new applications suggested.<>
