Abstract
Good communication helps teams do good work. Natural barriers to communication are erected by the progress of learning. Brain mechanisms that interact to build knowledge also interfere with communication and learning. By understanding the barriers resulting from inference and expectations, proactive and retroactive interference, and generalization and discrimination, we can: identify situations where these barriers are at work, diagnose the responsible brain mechanism, and develop and employ strategies to overcome the barriers
