Abstract
Outlines the current national shifts toward entrepreneurially based corporate research and development centers, and the impact of recent industry shifts on the technical communications necessities of R&D professionals. As R&D professionals face the evolution of corporations which have traditionally been their employers, many of these professionals are struggling with the entrepreneurial nature of current corporate R&D expectations. This shift in the management expectations of R&D professionals, combined with the lack of a communications infrastructure which can adequately educate and reconstruct their technical characteristics, presents several unique communication challenges. The communications issues of this transition are outlined, and the unique communication infrastructure is reviewed
