Abstract :
This paper describes relevant technical principles of construction of a novel radar system. This so-called Near-Range Radar Network (NRN) is a modular structured low power radar system designed as a candidate for the non-co-operative surveillance of ground moving traffic on airports as a complement to existing surveillance systems or as single sensor. A prototype system comprising four locally distributed radar stations, each equipped with non-rotating antennas, has been developed. Typical results from field experiments at different airports demonstrating the system performance are presented and discussed.
